Becoming more sustainable

At Whole Earth, we’re all about doing, not just talking. We have key goals that are close to our heart, and we are doing everything in our power to reach them.

Our founders, Craig and Greg believed in microbiotics: living in harmony with nature. We’ve always stuck fast to this simple principle and believe that nature intended for us to benefit from the goodness of the earth without giving or taking away. In return, we tread lightly, being careful not to take more than we need. We take our relationship with our earth very seriously, making sure that we are as kind to the environment as possible.

All of our organic food is certified by the Soil Association. Organic food is central to our purpose; it uses no pesticides, encourages biodiversity and is better for the earth.

To this end, we make sure we only use fully recyclable jars, glass, metal and paper.

Whole Earth is proud to have gained BCorp certification in 2018. Certified B Corporations are for-profit companies that use the power of business to build a more inclusive and sustainable economy. It’s a recognition of Whole Earth’s incredibly high standards – in social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability.

But, we believe that you can always get better, which is why we’ve set ourselves some sustainability targets for the next 5 years:

  • Zero plastic in our jar lids by 2022
  • All FSC approved board by 2022
  • Move to all IP RSPO palm oil by 2022
  • Targeting 0.3% waste by 2021
  • Completely transparent supply chain by 2025
  • Partnership with SOS Sumatran Orangutan Society to plant 20k trees
  • Plastic removal from outer cases by 2025
